Please - No Updates!

I have been getting two or three emails daily, from breeders asking to either be put into this directory, or to update/change their current listing information. 

I am sorry, but due to some recent computer problems I had, I currently cannot access any of my websites until I have a stretch of free time to fix the problem. 

My main website, (LaReau Lops & Cavies) will be first in line once I repair this problem, so I don’t anticipate this directory website being operable for some time.  Because of this, I am unable to make changes or update anything at all!

I am really sorry for this inconvenience.  Please visit this blog periodically for news on when I get this site working again, or when I plan to publish the ‘new’ site I’ve been working on.

Updating and Contact info

Several breeders have been emailing me with requests to change info in their listings and I’ve also received many requests for new listings over the past several months. 

I have not been able to make any changes to The Rabbit & Cavy Directory for the past several months. 

A new website is in the works currently, but I am just really delayed due to many personal and family issues this year.  Sorry.

I had planned on just leaving the site up for as long as I could until I got the new one up and going, but with so many request for changes, I may just pull it off the internet soon instead - I know people do not like outdated info, but I honestly don’t have the time to make any changes right now.

Currently I am dealing with replacing some damaged computer equipment - until I finish that project I can’t even access my websites!

Been a Long Time!

Hi everyone.  I just wanted to give you all a brief update with what is going on at The Rabbit & Cavy Directory:

Originally I was going to turn this website into a database driven site but my plans have changed.

I purchased a domain http://www.rabbitbreeder.net/  just the other day, and intend to make that into a large rabbit breeder resource website.  I wanted the dot com site but some company owns it for no good reason other than to squeeze a lot of money out of someone who wants it..and I don’t want it bad enough, esp when dot net is available!

I am planning to have all our usual rabbit breeder listings, similar to how I’ve got them set up now, just in a database, plus I am planning lots of new features such as article segments, rabbit show segments/clubs, and also some forums-both public, and private areas for members.

Still in the planning stage, but making good progress.  I’ve got a wheelbarrow load of new software and books to read through - some of the programming languages and such are new to me and I’m trying to familiarize myself with at least the basics before I just jump in.

I am truly sorry to those people who’ve been emailing me asking for new listings and changes.  I’ve got a couple planned to do, but for the most part, I’m not going to update or add to this existing website or it will take away from my work on the other one.

I think the new website will better serve our rabbit breeders community much better than the other, especially since members will be able to change and update their own listing as they see fit, plus there will be many useful segments that all have to do with rabbit breeders/breeding!

Please check back later for more updates.  I can’t really put a timeline on this project because I have to add several personal and ongoing tasks to my available time- (graduating teen, two other active teens, rabbit shows, college visits, never-ending stateleague soccer and of course rabbit and horse chores…if I didn’t have to work or sleep it would be great!)

ps…I’ll be looking for some help with this project when I get closer to finishing.  Mods for the forum areas, experienced breeders for our ‘ask questions’ area for new breeders, plus other stuff as it comes to mind.  Please email me if you think you can lend a hand!  racefan24@verizon.net

Hate to keep everyone waiting…

Alas, another blog update without any news that I’ve done anything worthwhile with the website.  Sorry for all you breeders in our blog list still waiting to get in to the directory. 

There is some worthwhile news though - I was gifted with a new computer this week, from my friend, Robert, up in Alaska.  The new, lightening-fast model, with all the bells and whistles, will surely spur me on to finishing up our blog’s queue and afterwards, start on the new website. 

This weekend is already pegged with rabbit shows and such, but look for the blog to disappear soon - and each will get an email from me once you are removed from the list and put in the directory. 

How to find this ‘queue’?   Look on the left side - you’ll see the word ‘queue’ in the list of categories.  Just click on that and our most recent queue will open for you!

January 23 Message

Oh I know it…… nothing has been done to get the queue list done, or to get some of the changes breeders have been requesting!!! 

The beginning of January just sort of flew by so quickly, here it is nearly the end and I haven’t worked on the directory for a couple of weeks now - I truly am sorry about that but I just couldn’t free up the time.

I’ve got all your emails for new website links and such, plus all the new listings in the queue - I will work on a bunch over this weekend and my goal is to have everyone taken care of before the end of January if possible.  Again, you all will get emails from me when your request is taken care of, and again, thanks for your patience - I have to admit, the break from both websites has been nice and productive though!  LOL 

Jan 10th News

Hi everyone!  As you know, I’ve closed the directory to all new listing requests and to all minor changes to existing listings so I can work on redoing this website.

I am planning to finish up with all the requests as listed in our current ‘queue’ (to find our queue - look down the links on the left side of this blog - when you reach the word ‘queue’ just click on it and our current or last queue list will open) before I begin working on the site though, and will email each breeder once I’ve finished your request.  I also have a few change requests to add to our queue-will do that within this week.

Sorry, I’ve been tied up with some quite intense personal projects since Jan 1 - and haven’t had time to work on the website at all…….  should be back at it within a few days if all goes as planned!
